#JustStart your goals

I have learned this week, a very secret recipe to work towards and achieve my goals. It is called creating SMART GOALS-Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

The first and foremost goal I set for myself is, multi-tasking. I am not in the habit of doing more than two or maximum three tasks a day. Nowadays, my schedule is getting more compact as I have to manage university and the amazing Amal Academy. Both are my priorities and I do not want to compromise any of them. Besides, to work on my other goals, I wish to actively strike a better work-life balance. In future, I will have to fit my job, family, my hobbies and other responsibilities in a day as well. So it is better to become efficient in multitasking when the time is just right.

Initially, I was facing immense workload and in my panic, no work was being done at all. I started cutting down my lunch or dinner time, my family time &c. It got better but it is still not effective. So, I searched and came across this method called 1–3–5 list method. It is also available as an app, which allows you to make it easy to prioritize your day. You have to choose 1 big thing, 3 medium things, and 5 small things to accomplish in your day.

Download the app or simply use the template in your planner.

So I planned my day ahead as per the above template. I was able to complete (1) university lecture (3) complete certain % of my online course, went to local bazaar to buy some things, made a bookmark and card for my sister’s birthday and (5) small everyday work like cleaning up the kitchen, washing dishes, listened to new VELO Station song, read 5 pages of my book before bed and etc. It was tiresome but my day was productive and I was happy about that.

Managing small things along with big things

I’ve learned from this experience that; however, you train your mind, your body will do. You can stop procrastinating on social media and start working because this time is crucial. Unless you change now, you will never change and nobody will be as sorry as you if you don’t change. I also learned that everyone has a different method to cope with work stress. Take time to discover yours and be consistent in its response.

So, I am giving myself time to adjust to the new workload, and staying positive. Ms. Seema Aziz is my inspiration in balancing/prioritizing everyday. I will slowly learn to manage and cover all my tasks. I will not stress myself and will take necessary breaks. I have planned my day for tomorrow as well. Let’s all make the most out of our 24 hours. I can measure my progress by;
The time it takes me to complete my tasks,
And by gradually increasing the number of tasks in a day.

Best of luck!
